New hamlib 3.2 in Rawhide

I am currently building hamlib 3.2 in rawhide. I did a abipkgdiff and it shows 3 removed symbols: ft991_init tmd710_get_vfo_char tmd710_set_channel Since they look to be rig specific I don't *THINK* there is an ABI change and the soversion was not bumped so rebuilding dependent packages should not be necessary but if you have a way to test rawhide once complete please let me know. Major update to klog

I noticed that klog had not been updated in quite some time. The new version appears to be very different from previous versions (does not require hamlib so doesn't control your rig). The current version also uses a bash script to setup skeleton files in your home dir where the new version no longer requires that, it will download cty.dat through the program itself... So just to check, before I build packages, is there any reason I should NOT update F25 and 27? Thanks, Richard KF5OIM

New to group, and QUISK package ready for review

Hi! I've been a ham for about ten years, an SDR software developer for about five years, and a Fedora and RHL user for 21 years, but I've only started combining these interests. If anyone is interested in using QUISK, an SDR package, I've submitted a package for review: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1443429 Unfortunately I can't claim that my packaging of it is well-tested, because I don't yet have it working with my HF transceiver, an RS-HFIQ. I'm still working on that. I did limited testing of demodulating recorded data. The package should work with the hardware that QUISK normally supports. 73, Eric Smith, N2ES

I´m a SWL since 2000 and I have interest in joining this SIG as soon as possible. I think this SIG is a wonderful idea, congratulations to KC0WYC <https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/announce@lists.fedoraproject.…>and for everyone involved. I want to collaborate! I got my approval to get my Brazilian call-sign (starting with PU4) and I will pay the fees at the beginning of 2017 so I can TX. I already have a radio and I´m building my first my coax antenna. At this list is associated with kernelnewbies.org I wonder if there is a FAS Group for Amateur Radio SIG. I can create it or explain how to create one if it does not exist. The reason of my question is simple: If there is, the Badges team can set up a way for the badge to be automatically awarded to people who are sponsored into the SIG. What badge? Good news. I suggested a concept for a badge <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/ticket/463> for Fedora Amateur SIG group as there is for the other SIGs and it was approved. Now we need to check a way to give that badge for everyone in this SIG. The easiest way is to have the members assigned to a FAS Group. This list can be kept, it´s only for the badges giving. Thanks for replies. I took a look at the archive and it is pretty sparse. But I am pretty committed to using Fedora so thought I'd check in. I use fldigi all the time for digital qso and for logging. So thanks for keeping the pkg in fedora. (Has it been pushed to f24? I need to upgrade one of these days and don't want to break my fldigi.) I'll check out linrad. Tho I am dubious abt hooking my rf up to my soundcard (ie MB). An unfortunate amount of ham related software seems to be mostly built in Windows. And not particularly WINE friendly. But I really do not want to install any MS on any of my machines. Better to do without. Just spent time on NAQCC sprint. Keyer and sharp filter was all the fancy stuff I ended up using. If I have any fun with SDR I'll try to post something abt it. Keith

QUISK and linrad

I am new to the list. Ham, inactive for many years while playing in the software domain. Now I have put up an antenna and fired up my old rig. Very interested in SDR. Tried to run QUISK in f23 and it fails. Google search suggests others have tried and given up. Does anyone know how to run QUISK? Or should I just try linrad? Or gnuradio? Notably I do not have any SDR hardware yet, so thoughts on interesting (for a ham) SDR would also be useful. TNX Keith AA0FD

twHamQTH 2.0 released

Hi All, There is a new release of twHamQTH. It is a GUI interface for the call sign data base provided by Petr, OK2CQR at hamQTH.com. About 40 pieces of data are down loaded per call, and the data can be easily use by other programs. It can also identify stations that are Authenticity Guaranteed (AG) at eqsl.cc This version starts faster and maintains a local copy of the AG file from eqsl.cc. Additional changes and fixes can be found in the ChangeLog file.
