AppData for Ham Radio related applications in Fedora

Hi all, I am working on getting the AppData (the files that help populate the software application in fedora) to a much better state for Fedora 21. There are a bunch of amateur radio related applications that don't have appdata done yet, and just wondering if there is interest on this list to help write some of it. Basically, all that needs to be done for each application is * a one-line comment of what the tool does * a 1-3 para longer description of the tool and it's features * links to 1 or more screenshots from the tools upstream If you are able to help me out, (i would write these, but my ham radio knowledge is pretty minimal) feel free to email me direct, and i can give you a couple of apps to generate the data for. cheers, ryanlerch

Packaging wiki out of date

Which is an understatement :) https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/AmateurRadio/Packages Does anyone find this useful at this point? I think the only thing worse than not having this, is having it horribly out of date. If I can find some time I may update it a bit but if no one uses it, then perhaps it's time to remove it? >From a new package review request point of view, how about a tracker bug that everyone interested in new packages can add themselves to? There's also a bunch of "magic" fields in bugzilla which I'm not very familiar with that might do a similar job. Thanks, Richard KF5OIM

Xastir with working maps

Good day all, Just in case anyone is interested, I have managed to build xastir-2.0.4 with GraphicsMagick support instead of ImageMagick which is what is needed to make the maps works again, I have a couple of my own maps i use and just lately cant use them. I did a little googling and found the fix, and built the rpm for my FC20 http://camberwell.fedorapeople.org/xastir-2.0.4-6.fc20.x86_64.rpm thought I'd share with any hams who do use it. if you are on a i686 or even on F19 and want to build your own rpm heres the spec file too... http://camberwell.fedorapeople.org/xastir.spec now you can enable the Open StreetMap online maps and just wanted to share that, Thankyou Martin

I have this software running on Windows, but I really want to switch all I do to Linux and logging software is the big leap for me. Fedora Amateur Radio SIG, I am attempting to get N3FJP's Field Day logging program up and running in Fedora 19. My goal is to have all the field day laptops (9 + 1 centeral) on a mesh network running the logging software; preferably not on a windows based OS (too many not needed things to turn off). Just a single purpose machine. I am brand new to Fedora, so I am still reading up on it. Help / direction / or wish list appreciated. Peter M. DeBay KE7VSR 775-225-1653

Introduction, better late than never

Since there has been a little activity on the list lately I figured I would introduce myself. I've been using RH/Fedora since RH 6.0 but came back to linux around the time Fedora 10 was released. A couple of years ago (Maybe 3 now?) I became a Fedora packager and a little later one at RPM Fusion. I became a "ham" in Feb 2012 (my dad, NF4H, has been one since before I was born) and finally got into digital about 8 months ago after building a interface box for my old Ten-Tec 540. Since it wasn't designed for digital I had to got beyond a simple serial PTT and included a relay to swtich from the mic to the computer and a 90dB attenuator since it's a mic level input. Works pretty good! I now help maintain several ham related packages... fldigi, nec2c, xnec2c, LinLog, hamlib (for EPEL 6), and qsstv. On a side note I've got fldigi in EPEL 6 but it's stuck at 3.21.72 because the newer versions dropped support for fltk 1.1 and one of the maintainers of a package that depends on fltk doesn't want to deal with updating his packages to work with fltk 1.3.
