CubicSDR & SoapySDR failures

CubicSDR is a panadapter spectrum visualizer. CubicSDR in Fedora 29 has been getting abrt failures. Reported upstream, the upstream developer does not wish to investigate, as our versions of libraries (specifically, wxwidgets-3.0.x) is older than what he's built for (wxwidgets-3.1.x, a development branch). I had backported to wxwidgets-3.0 6 months ago, but upstream has moved on with extensive use of 3.1 APIs, making backporting much more difficult now. Fedora 31 (rawhide) does not yet have wxwidgets-3.1, and the maintainer there has said he won't upgrade it to a development branch. So CubicSDR is unlikely to be fixed before wxwidgets-3.2, whenever that happens. :-( SoapySDR is a hardware library for various adapter boards, which is used by CubicSDR. SoapySDR has one reported failure, building against Python 3.8 in Fedora 31 (rawhide). I don't believe SoapySDR is used outside of CubicSDR at this time. With CubicSDR not being fixed, I don't know that it's worth it to try to fix SoapySDR yet. Perhaps wait for upstream to address it. If either of these matter to you and you're in a position to fix them, please do. Intent to retire: xconvers

I've built CubicSDR and it's dependencies for Fedora 28 x86_64. Packages are at https://domsch.com/fedora/sdr/ for review and consideration. Packages: * wxGTK31 - SRPM rebuilt from http://codelite.org/LiteEditor/WxWidgets31Binaries. Scott, are you planning on releasing 3.1 into rawhide? * SoapySDR 0.6.1 (from git HEAD) * soapy-rtlsdr 0.2.5 (== git HEAD) - hardware driver for rtlsdr * liquid-dsp 1.2.0 (from git HEAD) * CubicSDR 0.2.4 (from git HEAD) liquid-dsp wasn't versioning their one library. I've filed a ticket with upstream, and here am versioning it as libliquid.so.1.2. CubicSDR bundles a couple small libraries (an old librs232 and tinyxml), which they wish to keep as such. I've noted Provides bundled() for these. My RTL-SDR arrives tomorrow, so I'll have a chance to actually use the software after that. So far, it starts correctly and looks for hardware. I was able to get a clean build, but now (probably due to some other system updates I finally ran), it segfaults at startup. Tried building with each of wxGLX3 and wxGLX31 and both builds fail during startup the same way now. Is there a known failure in the X libraries recently calling LockDisplay()? There's nothing in the updates-testing repo. I was able to revert a portion of this commit (it had another set of unrelated changes also), and build against wxWidgets 3.0. When using mock and building with the updates repo enabled, I was getting an ABI mismatch warning. I disabled using the updates repo, and rebuilt, and it starts correctly now. I've updated the packages at https://domsch.com/fedora/sdr/ and will be trying it all out with an rtl-sdr when it arrives. Thanks, Matt
