Finding help

Hello everybody, I just started to learn about the linux kernel and I am very excited about it... but very lost. I would like to know if there's any mentor program or anything similar to that. If there's no such thing, can anyone suggest me some link/s with "First steps to the linux kernel" or the like? Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience, María.
