Add it to grub but don't make it the default entry. Easy. :) (I usually have about a dozen entries in my grub menu, only one of which is the default boot)

When the GRUB (GRUB 1, I'm assuming) menu appears, you can press 'C' for a GRUB command prompt, manually enter the options, and then type 'boot'. For example:
root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.14.4 someoption=somevalue boot
