Hi, I once turn off all of the unnecessary options in .config and the kernel can be compiled within three minutes. But I also remove USB,Networking,video, and mouse drivers, so the newer kernel is very tiny and it's useless except debugging. Besides, I use bochs and gdb to debug kernel source and it's very convenient. Recently, I find DDD is an awesome debugger, so I highly recommend it. Good Luck. Hao Lee
