it's fairly terse -- true beginners should probably start at the official yocto pages, http://yoctoproject.org/, but if you just need a tested recipe to get up and running, the wiki page should do it.

I was trying to build core-image-minimal for panda and I have problem with fetching meta-ti kernel (thread: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.embedded.yocto.meta-ti/1125). Maybe you have same problems.
