2.6.10 is _very_ old, it proabably doesn't even work on modern hardware. Why are you trying to use such an old kernel release?

to study the examples that are in your book ;-) I mean LDD3. I tried to build the snull driver with 2.6.39 but it doesn't compile, so I decided to work on the same version of the kernel as the book does.
