Just though I'd point out that WireShark http://www.wireshark.org/ already has usb sniffing builtin http://wiki.wireshark.org/CaptureSetup/USB It uses the usbmon which is already part of the kernel https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/usb/usbmon.txt
