Software and Hardware interrupt in top command

Problems with adding a sysfs file

I followed this link to add a sysfs file http://kroah.com/log/blog/2013/06/26/how-to-create-a-sysfs-file-correctly/ . I set the driver.groups field and declared the attribute and attribute groups required by the sysfs file. When I boot my kernel I see the file but my store and show handlers don't get called when I try to cat or echo to the file. Is there any step I'm missing ?. I also see that a lot of drivers still use sysfs_create_file which is racy according to the link I posted. - AB

How to get patches from e-mail client?

Hi: If I want to get a patch and use "git am" to merge it into my project, how can I do? I mean I can copy and paste a patch from my e-mail client, but it is too silly. Is there any way to save a email as a patch? -- Cheers, Rock

Error while sending a mail from mutt

Hi, I am trying to send a mail using mutt. I am getting the error as follows :- SMTP session failed: 501 5.5.4 I understand the error meant that a valid mail transaction protocol was used with invalid arguments. Please let me know how do I debug this issue further. Regards, Ayan Kumar Halder

Per container uptime?

USB shutdown issue

Detecting this, the USB hub driver is re-enabling the port. I would like to know why exactky the USB hub's port is shutfown. In short I am trying to find out the reason for this message - "port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling..." The source code that is doing this is here - http://androidxref.com/kernel_3.10/xref/drivers/usb/core/hub.c#4693 But I did not get much info from here. Someone who is proficient with USB protocol might be able to asnwer this very quickly. Looking forward for response. How to browse the code

Folks, Can you tell me how to effectively browse linux kernel code. I am familiar with lxr etc but they do not do what I want or atleast I do not know how to. I am looking for something that can list all the places that a certain field of a certain structure is used. For example, sk_buff has a field called destructor, but so do many other data structures. How do I search for places where just the destructor field of sk_buff. Thanks a lot. -- CS1
