With a little help I finally hit my head on the wall enough times to get through the JSON format (kill me now) and created a standalone flatpak: https://hobbes1069.fedorapeople.org/chirp-20200430.flatpak I may entertain getting it in the repos but I really don't want to make it easier for upstream to ignore fact that Python 2 is EOL.
