Boot Custom Kernel

When the GRUB (GRUB 1, I'm assuming) menu appears, you can press 'C' for 
a GRUB command prompt, manually enter the options, and then type 
'boot'.  For example:
 >root (hd0,0)
 >kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.14.4 someoption=somevalue
 >boot
