Where is /dev/mtdX on Linux-3.8.0-rc7+

I had a look at the following patchs.

I think the only way to define different partition layout is to pass it as
command line argument to kernel.

I am thinking that the device file /dev/mtdx will be present since the char
diver code is still existing in the kernel mainline.(line no 1254)
