What do you mean by "batch"?
It's a core UNIX utility, associated with 'at'/'atd'. Try 'man batch'. Its purpose is to start a job when system load is low, but I don't think it will pause the lower-priority job when load increases again. Henry

Nice catch for the batch utility. I will take a look at how it is implemented. -- Jimmy
