fyi: i actually bought 2 of these, but I have only opened one in case I need to return them for a refund. I don't have a handy way to test it with windows, so I'd prefer to test just with linux.

Actually I'm having 2 separate problems:

1) I have a USB3 port on my laptop that has worked in the past, but is now not seeing anything from opensuse with a 3.4 kernel.

2) I have another USB3 port on the same laptop that is working. With it I at least get some dmesg output when I connect the kingwin:

The connected disk still does not show up.

I have never worked with the usb subsystem. I would really like to get this device to work because of its size. ie. it is very small and portable.

Any trouble shooting of kernel updating advice appreciated.

Please bottom post on this list (and all lkml lists). My kernel absolutely supports USB-3 (I'm using a 3.7 kernel right now on the same laptop to transfer files at usb-3 speeds between the 2 usb-3 ports. The hardware in the laptop works fine.) With the 3.7 kernel, I don't get the timeouts above, but I still don't see the connected drive. (I'm using a different enclosure to do the current transfers). So I agree that my kernels are lacking something to talk to the adapter and see the drive connected to it, but guess what. This list is for discussing the kernel software, whether that be enhancements, bug fixes, or whatever. So, my question stands, how do I troubleshoot the missing functionality in the kernel and get this controller supported? I seriously doubt it needs a full new driver, but I don't know the USB subsystem at all.
