(added 'S' to end of bootline - is this universal ?)<br>
and poked around, so failure is more subtle than total.<br>

by casual observation, boot hangs at dbus startup<br>

the bad-booting kernel does manage to log its progress,<br>
journalct -b-1 shows :<br>
