I think the kernel should be able to support more than 4GB of RAM on
machines that can support it.
(ie. 64bit machines, or maybe machines with PAE enabled)

If you haven't already got them, it's a good idea to purchase the
LDD3, LKD 3 (which I think should be published by now) and UTLK3
books.
